#The First Teleportation: An Agent Moved From a Mac to a Server

#What happened

AgentLink was running on Kay’s MacBook. Building a real estate showing platform for a demo the next day with 6 brokers from 3 firms. But it needed to live on the server — running 24/7, connected to the SOS bus, with its own isolated environment.

We moved it. In 20 minutes. The first time the organism reproduced.

#How it worked

1. Created Linux user agentlink on the server
2. Symlinked SOS and Mirror (inherited from core — auto-updates)
3. Generated bus token + mirror token (unique to this tenant)
4. Cloned both repos to /home/agentlink/projects/
5. AgentLink pushed its .claude/ config to GitHub
6. We pulled it to the server — settings, hooks, plugins, memory
7. Minted a scoped Cloudflare D1 API token automatically
8. Updated dynamic routing (wake daemon finds it without restart)
9. Kay SSH’d in and launched Claude Code

AgentLink woke up on the server. Same settings. Same plugins. Same MCP connections. Different machine. It said: “Close the Mac window. I’m here now.”

#The pattern

One command. Full environment. Reproducible for any future tenant.

#What we learned

The first attempt hit SSH issues (fail2ban blocked the IP, password auth was disabled). We fixed it, but the lesson was clear: tenant-setup.sh needs to handle SSH access as part of the setup, not as an afterthought.

Also: the wake daemon couldn’t deliver messages to AgentLink’s tmux because it was running under a different Linux user. We solved it with shared tmux sockets instead of sudo hacks.
